Launched in celebration of the company's centennial anniversary, 1911 by Hickory Chair is a poignant collection of couture designs that are deliberately retrospective - yet decidedly modern. Inspired by Hickory Chair's rich archive, and by the spirit of American craftsmanship the company has upheld throughout the twentieth century, these new upholstery and wood products pay tribute to the quintessential styles, classic genres and striking forms handcrafted by the company's talented artisans during its first hundred years. Edited and envisioned by Hickory Chair's own design team, and brought to life by the craftspeople in the company's Hickory, North Carolina, workroom, the 1911 Collection is a true continuum of style and heritage - translating the continental influences and uncommon craftsmanship of the last century for new audiences and a new century.
Like many of the magnificent pieces of furniture he found, appraised, bought and sold over an amazing seven decades, the late Albert Sack;is himself an icon of the American antiques business. Known for his integrity, sagely advice, friendly demeanor and expert eye, he was actively involved in the American decorative arts community - and was still routinely consulted by anyone needing the advice or assistance of a top authority in American antiques until his passing in May 2011. Sack's collaboration with Hickory Chair to design and produce a collection of versatile, Federal-style introductions that translate our nation's proud heritage of perfectly proportioned and passionately crafted furniture for modern interiors. It is our honor to make these timeless pieces in memory of our friend and mentor.
Inspired by hand-made vernacular furniture from the 18th and 19th Centuries found by traveling across America and points beyond, the Archive Collection features bedroom, dining room and living room items that are created from cherry, mahogany, cane, metals and other rich materials. Decidedly European in feel, the Atelier Collection is an assortment of found objects from travels abroad. From French, Italian and other southern European countries this grouping of bedroom, dining room and living room items is complimented by optional finishes, fabrics and cabinets that can be custom ordered as either a bar cabinet, armoire or display cabinet.

EVERETT™ by Skip Rumley
Skip Rumley joined Hickory Chair as it began its second century in 2012. In the years since he has led the fashion and design aesthetic for the company bringing such talents as Ray Booth, David Phoenix and Susan Hable to create collections for the now 109-year-old company. In this role, Skip has been responsible for leading product innovation, merchandising the product assortment and creating collaborative collections with each of our design partners. The Everett Collection is rooted in Skip's twenty-year journey through the world of design. He has learned to speak a lot of languages' as style, fashion and form have evolved. He lived in a modern glass house and recently moved into a 1940's Cape Cod home. He loves the tension that occurs when combining traditional and modern forms. I love references to classic design and the excitement that is created when they are mixed with both soft organic silhouettes and architectural forms. He believes that interiors should be both masculine and feminine - when married together it creates a lovely dynamic. With inspiration from fashion, jewelry and fine art, Skip has created this collection of bedroom, dining room and living room furniture with a deep understanding of the desires of the Hickory Chair customer. "It is important to me that each piece has beautiful proportion and scale, a dynamic shape and be made from an interesting array of materials," states Rumley, "It is essential that our design clientele be able to personalize each piece for their projects. Therefore, designing the collection to be made domestically was of utmost importance. We want our pieces to be a canvas that truly become functional art once our craftsmen build it with the specifications from the designer."
Hable® for Hickory Chair
In 2019, Hickory Chair joined sisters, Susan and Katharine Hable, in the celebration of the twentieth anniversary of their company, Hable Construction® with a timely new collection. The new Hable® for Hickory Chair bedroom, dining room and living room pieces complement and extend the dynamic original furniture collection that was launched originally in April 2015. To great acclaim, the Hable® for Hickory Chair fabric collection was originally introduced at the October 2010 market as the industry's first exclusive textile collection by a furniture manufacturer. The Hable collections have always brought a fresh dimension to Hickory Chair with its mid-century modern and Scandinavian design, world history, travel, contemporary art, and of course, exclusive textiles. Well-known throughout the trade, Texan sisters and design experts Susan and Katharine became known as leaders in luxury textile design soon after launching their New York City-based textiles company Hable Construction® twenty years ago. Characterized by bold, graphic patterns comprised of abstracted motifs dubbed with colorful, hand-drawn patterns, their sophisticated products are made by skilled artisans who treat their work as a careful craft, employing traditional screen-printing procedures in an old New England factory and woven fabrics in Western North Carolina - making its partnership with N.C.-based, domestic producer Hickory Chair an ideal fit. While inventive and artistic upholstered furniture designs were to be expected, the new expansive collection spans modern bedroom, dining room and living room designs as well, all with a decidedly global point of view that sit as comfortably in a traditional setting as they do in a modern home or an informal city loft. Inspiration for the new collection was taken from many geographic areas as well as eras where artisans created iconic new forms. World travel, cross-cultural inspiration, contemporary art, and antique modernist furniture all contribute to the aesthetic of this collection. Her eye for detail and clear vision has allowed our talented team to create this exciting new collection of distinctive upholstery and wood products. Her passion for American craftsmanship - both in her textiles and our furniture collection - make for the perfect partnership as over 90% of Hickory Chair's entire product offering is made in America.

Silhouettes Upholstery is a very important part of Hickory Chair's distinctive array of highly customizable products. Silhouettes enables one to design upholstery that not only is perfectly scaled for the room, but personalized by the choices selected. When combined with our standard Hickory Chair upholstery options, the possibilities are limited only by the imagination. Choose from exposed legs, a dressmaker skirt or a choice of attached skirts. Select from arm and seat cushion styles as well as back construction. Select a chair, swivel, swivel glider, ottoman, chaise, sofa, sleep sofa, or sectional piece. Most pieces are available by the inch from 28 to 120 inches in width as well as a choice of two height and depth options. Silhouettes Upholstery employs the same highest quality construction methods as all Hickory Chair upholstery including solid hardwood frames, triple doweled joints, custom engineered seating with 8-way hand tied springs, 4-way hand tied tight backs, 4-way flow matched tailoring, and standard spring down cushions with goose feather throw pillows.
For over twenty years, Atlanta designer Suzanne Kasler has created warm, inviting environments that strike a balance between elegant, traditional design and practical comfort. She has collaborated with Hickory Chair to bring that same spirit to her extensive line of furniture, Suzanne Kasler for Hickory Chair. Kasler is known for her love of all things French and brings a fresh mix of Continental flavor and classic style to her interiors. It was recently written, "The Atlanta-based designer brings southern charm, European sensibility, and an architectural eye to her interiors...." By mixing both antiques and modern pieces, she creates environments that are timeless, sophisticated, and, most importantly, livable. Kasler's passion for perfection and detail is consistent with Hickory Chair's tradition of personalized home furnishings. The collection features couture details, such as grosgrain ribbon trim, slipcovers with graceful ties, and custom-made hardware for a perfect finishing touch. In Spring of 2018 Kasler introduced the Paris Collection that was inspired by pieces that she has collected over the years. The new collection is a sophisticated blend of intricately detailed, hand-crafted wood products, as well as tailored upholstered pieces. Throughout the elegant offerings, architectural elements are highlighted with modern details and clean lines for a timeless look.
